TSARM 2006 Calendar Information
You've already read or heard about it; the TSARM/Ricky
Martin 2006 Calendar. For the 5th consecutive year, we are releasing a very
special and unique calendar of Ricky, to enjoy daily, year-round! All of the
profits are donated to a charity in Puerto Rico that Ricky also lends
his support to. Sister Isolina Ferre Centros takes care of the education
and recreation of the children in Puerto Rico that need it. Every year they are very happy to receive our donation from this project, and
even called it a gift from their "Ricky Angels".

This year, we have gathered
the most amazing selection of photos to put in it. We are very
proud to tell you that next to the photos from fans and Bolivar
Arellano, several radio stations, that Ricky has visited on his
recent promo tour, have graciously provided their photos to us for
that unique 'Behind The Scenes'-peek with Ricky! Next to that, two
international established photographers have also given us the use
of their beautiful images. Frederic Belge was there in Thailand
when Ricky visited the tsunami victims in January 2005, and
captured the emotional moments when Ricky met the youngest
survivors of the disaster. |
| All these
photos, together with recent fan pictures from the UK to
Germany, Miami to San Francisco and more, bring together the image
of Ricky as we all know and love; a passionate entertainer with a
big heart, and on a mission with his humanitarian efforts. As an
extra addition, you can even have your name put on the date of your birthday in the
calendar! What is better than to have a beautiful Ricky graphic
along with your birthday? |
By
Amorsito |
Please be sure to order as soon as possible,
because the calendar is going to the printer in mid-October. We still need
quite a few pre-orders to reach our normal amount of getting 500 copies
printed… So what are you waiting for?! This is not only a MUST HAVE for
yourself, but also an excellent (Christmas?) present for your
friends.
And want to know a little secret? Ricky gave us a special
"posed" picture for the calendar and requested that it be used for the December graphic… so you know that it will be!
You've never seen this photo before, and it's also the only time you
will see it!

Visiting Clubs To Promote Single
With a new marketing strategy in place,
Ricky hit various clubs in the US and the UK to feel out how his new
single, "I Don't Care," would be received by the audience. He entered
each club without fanfare or notice and once in the groove, hit the DJ
booths with single in hand. Each DJ played the song and Ricky watched
the audience reaction. By all accounts, the song was well received by
the club-goers and he seemed very happy with the results. From Chicago
to Miami, Los Angeles to London, the man was on a mission ..
List of some of the clubs Ricky took "I
Don't Care" to for promotion:
Marquee (Chelsea, New York) - June
21st
Le Passage Club (Chicago, Illinois) - July 10th
Light (at the Bellagio, Las Vegas, Nevada) - July
19th
Pure (at Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas, Nevada) - July
19th
Spider Club (Hollywood, California) - July
20th
Kabaret Club (London, United Kingdom) - August

Building
Houses In Thailand
Shortly after his return
from visiting the devastated tsunami-affected areas in January of 2005,
Ricky announced that the Ricky Martin Foundation, assisted by other
organizations such as International Habitat for Humanity and El Nuevo
Dia, for the survivors and some 600 children in Thailand.
Being
a man of his word, Ricky returned to the southern province of Phang Nga
in Thailand on July 27 to present 200 pre-fabricated houses to some of
the island's inhabitants. All the adoration Ricky has seen in the eyes
of his fans could not possibly compare to the gratitude and relief he
was now seeing in the tearful eyes of the mothers and fathers who were
given keys to their new dwellings.

While visiting the resort island of Phuket,
he told reporters, "I would like to play a special concert there to lift
the spirits of those who still suffer from the devastating tsunami" and
added that discussions were under way with provincial
authorities.

Guest of Honor
at Jubilee Of Children's Congress
Ricky arrived in
Amman, Jordan on July 24 to participate in the 25th Arab
Children's Congress, after being invited by Queen Noor. The
international summit is an annual event, bringing together teens
from the Arab world, Europe and Asia to discuss humanitarian
issues and to promote creativity, peace, cross-cultural
understanding and tolerance. This year, 150 teens gathered at
the Performing Arts Theatre in Amman for the event. |

Meeting With
Arye Mekel
Ricky met with Israeli
Consul, Arye Mekel, in New York shortly after he returned from Jordan. A
present that he received in Amman, a kaffiyah (scarf) which he proudly
wore, but later found out that the text on it translated to "Jerusalem
is ours," which raised some indignant reactions among
people.
Ricky explained that
he had no personal agenda during his performance in Jordan and
said he was deeply pained by the incident. Several local children
had placed the kaffiyah on his shoulders, without him knowing what
it represented.
Arye Mekel summed up the meeting by saying,
"Especially in these times where we are busy with issues like the
disengagement and the Shfaram murder, Martin's arrival in
Israel is a breath of fresh air for issues over and above the
conflict, issues that we are interested the media cover".

Next Stop, UK &
Scotland!
The month of August found
Ricky in the UK doing promotions for "I Don't Care," on radio for a
week, doing some interviews live and others taped to be aired at later
dates. Ricky recorded messages for his fans in the UK both at the
beginning of his trip and at the end, which you can watch
here.

Here is the of audio files that we all
managed to record while he was running around, doing interviews! Enjoy
them! Special thanks to Lavinia and Lucile for all their
recording!
Just right mouse click, and save the file to your
computer to download, then play it!
While in the UK, Ricky
taped a special interview for Top of the Pops, which will air closer to
the date that the new album, "Life," will be released (around October
11th).
Also, GMTV cameras caught up with Ricky and followed him
for the day, taping his adventures around the UK, including some time
spent in a flight simulator. Caz from RM UK made a wonderful video of it
so we can all enjoy watching Ricky having a good time trying to fly a
plane!

It was announced promptly
before he left that Ricky would be returning to the UK for more
promotions near the end of September, some of which have already
happened. Surely one of the most 'original' interviews took place at the
Jonathan Ross show, where they kept joking back and forth. It started
with Jonathan complimenting Ricky's new hairdo looking like a
coconut!

Ricky also
visited various music shows, several already having made it onto
television. Once again, a big thank you to Caz at RM UK who made a
recording of the CD UK interview!

Dancing With
C&A
The last part of the
C&A ad campaign was finished and shown in Brazil in early September.
Two television commercials were shown and showcased Ricky 'in the
jungle' with "Livin La Vida Loca" playing in the background. Download
them here! Thanks to Lavinia!
"Dancing
In The Jungle" #1
"Dancing

| Ricky flew to Brazil
from Miami accompanied by Wanda Montes and Joselo. There was a
tight-lipped word from the set that privacy agreements had been
signed so no rumors would escape prematurely. Even so, Raica
Oliveira (the model in the commercials) and Ricky got along
famously as they had met before in Brazil. Also, it was mentioned
that Ricky was very friendly with the crew and even had lunch with
them! |
 |
Ricky took back in his
luggage some Brazilian souvenirs: 70 pairs of sandals with the Brazilian
flag in white, yellow, green, blue and black, and 8 silver rosaries.
Still no word as to who the 70 pairs of sandals were for. Most likely
one of his children's charities (maybe the kids at Capoeira
camp.)

MTV Video Music
Awards
 |
This year's awards
show went ahead as scheduled on August 28, despite threats by
Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast. Held at American Airlines
Arena in Miami, Florida, Ricky arrived aboard a Pershing 62 (part
aerodynamic motor-yacht and part muscle boat, with a razor-sharp
profile) and after finally making his way to the dock, Ricky spoke
with an MTV VJ about the new single "I Don't Care," followed by a
short teaser clip of the video.
Ricky then joined Joss
Stone later in the evening to present Kelly Clarkson with a
Moonman for Best Female Video. |

The 2005 edition of the
World Music Awards was taped in Hollywood, California this year with a
list a mile long of celebs in attendance. The show was taped on August
31st at the Kodak Theater and was televised on September 13th. Ricky had
the honor of presenting the Legend Award to much deserved recipient,
Carlos Santana. Lucile was so nice to make a video file of
it!

USA Radio
Promotions
September is the month for sweeps in
television ..it was also the month for sweeps when it came to getting
down to the serious business of promoting "I Don't Care" to US radio
stations. Ricky took the USA by storm, visiting seventeen cities in just
sixteen days (a couple of times hitting more than one city in a day)
holding several dozen interviews either live or taped to be aired at a
later date.
With the myriad of interviews, a myriad of photos
emerged from almost every station he appeared at. Fans were encouraged
to go out and show their support ..and they did! Many, many fans had the
opportunity to meet Ricky when he was either entering the radio stations
or leaving and every one of them had positive stories to bring back with
them (as well as photos to share!) A few radio stations held contests
for meet and greets and several of our members won the chance to meet
Ricky in a more "personalized" setting.
With much thanks to
special members at TSARM, the majority of these interviews have been
made available for download in .mp3 format. A few stations also had
podcasts (video files) of the interviews, which we of course also
gathered. Check the icons to see whether it is audio or
video.
The list of stations was long and
impressive... here it is:
Overall, Ricky, as well as his new music,
was very well received by the stations and their DJs. During several
interviews, he let the DJs play snippets of other tracks from the album
so not only did they play "I Don't Care" in its entirety, but we also
heard bits of "Drop It On Me", "Till I Get to You", and "It's Alright".
Ricky had fun playing games with some of the DJs while doing
interviews and at others, he just enjoyed listening to emails that had
been sent to the stations by fans all over the world or taking calls
from them. One of the more cute "memorable" moments took place during
the WNCI interview in Columbus, Ohio, when the station called William
Hung and Ricky left a brief message on his answering machine, just to
say hello!

Listening Parties
& Meet 'n' Greets
The Spanish Media
was treated to a listening party in Miami by Sony to kick off the
beginning promotions of the new album "Life" from Ricky Martin. In
keeping with his Latin heritage, Ricky invited Latin media to the
first listening party so they did not feel 'left behind' by an
English album release.
Greeted by media frenzy as he came
out of the party, Cotoreando, Gordo y Flaca, Primer Impacto and a
variety of outlets caught sound bites as Ricky was smothered in
microphones. |
 |
 |
This was
followed by an MTV Listening Party at Hotel MTV (the Doubletree
Surfcomber Hotel in Miami Beach) where some fans as well as MTV
partiers packed into the hotel as Hurricane Katrina started to
take a toll across Miami and other Southern States. For those who
braved the floods, power outages, and headaches that Katrina was
inflicting, it was a chance to meet Ricky first hand and hear some
of the new songs. |
Ricky arrived and the
music was playing, and for those who heard it, there was great
anticipation. Unfortunately, this party was cut short prematurely as
some of the MTV crowd pressed forward and took Ricky and security by
surprise. All was well as Ricky was whisked away.
~*~
| Next was a Sony
Listening party in Los Angeles. After a busy night making a
presentation to Santana at the World Music Awards, and a morning
which started at 5am going to four radio interviews in the Greater
Los Angeles area, Ricky impressed a crowd with cuts from his new
album. A few lucky fans had their wishes fulfilled and met Ricky
during the party. Yesica and Amy told of how sweet and huggable
Mr. Martin was and couldn't stop singing "Muevete duro' a refrain
from the song "Drop it On Me." |
 |
~*~
 |
In San Francisco on
September 7th he also held a listening party. A lucky fan club
member, Aimee Angel, was able to hear the songs and greet Ricky in
person and shared her experiences with us all. Being a fan since
his Menudo days, and having met Ricky during his tour in 1984, she
was excited to know that Ricky remembered her from so long ago.
The music she heard was enough to have her tell us we would love
the new cuts and we waited in anticipation as slowly, other tracks
besides "I Don't Care" hit the
airwaves. |
And the beat goes
on as he criss crossed the country "Dropping It on Them" at the radio
stations as he went.

People En Español
| The October
issue of People en Español came early to some of us who have
subscriptions to the magazine, and it couldn't have been more
welcome than to hear about the new music, new look, and new
passion for LIFE that Ricky has found. Although he talks about his
sabbatical, we who have marked the time for him for the past few
years waiting for the long promised English album, know it was
still a pretty packed agenda and more than most of us would
consider for a 'sabbatical.' |
 |
 |
Having laid the
foundations of his charitable organizations through Ricky Martin
Foundation and People For Children, as well as putting out a new
album in Spanish, Almas del Silencio and promoting it to the
various continents where fans eagerly awaited new music from Ricky
Martin, and working on this new album, we are sure he managed some
actual vacation somewhere in there. |
The magazine had a 10 page article jam
packed with interviews and spliced with pictures of Ricky with his
fabulous new look, lean, mean, edgy----and ready to bring us LIFE. The
façade is a bit stronger, with a few wrinkles appearing, and a few
touches of gray gracing his hairline, but one smile from those lips and
the inner-child of Ricky shines through and shows us the inner-child is
still there, intact. He has 20 years of musical career under his belt,
and a new zest for LIFE that shows in the diversity of his new
music...but that's another item in this newsletter..
Quote:
But in other circumstances, the
Ricky Martin of today takes things in an easy and calmed way, without
rush. And if we talk about the process of creating his music, even more.
According to the singer, he plays it, he feels it, and he analyzes it.
He takes his time; he does things in his way. That's why LIFE, his
latest English-language album, and with which he hopes to re-conquer and
to a certain point revive his Latin sex symbol image in the Anglo
market, came after 4 years of waiting. But none of this time was wasted.
After
releasing with international success his Spanish-language album
Almas del Silencio in 2003 and while his Livin' la Vida local and
She bangs kept forever in the neurons of popular culture, Martin
traveled around the world and also to his own his inner self. The
result of so many experiences, he states, is the connection of the
most intimate songs of his career.
But far from aging this
person Ricky Martin, this he embraces with gusto. And with a proud
smile to his lips, it shows. "These little gray things are
natural." |

LIFE For The
Katrina Children Relief Fund
The world has seen the vast
devastation Hurricane Katrina left in her wake in New Orleans on
television and once again, Ricky could not sit back and just watch.
During his radio promotional tour across the USA, Ricky saw first hand
what the survivors were going through when he insisted on visiting
Houston, Texas. While in the city on September 9, Ricky spoke with
survivors at the Astrodome, Reliant Center, Texas Children's Hospital
and the Playground Center, listening to their stories and spending time
with the children who have been so severely displaced in this tragedy.

Ricky launched "LIFE for the Katrina
Children Relief Fund" to help the youngest and most helpless in their
plight to continue surviving this tragedy and to overcome it. To help
raise awareness, a live message (PSA) from Ricky was transmitted from
Toronto, Canada during half-time of the soccer game between the Puerto
Rico Islanders and the Lynx, airing on the television station FOX Sports
in Canada, the US and Latin America.
 |
The Ricky Martin
Foundation also announced a partnership with Popular Inc. Through
this partnership, donations of clothing, games, educational
materials and diapers were accepted at branches of Banco Popular
in Puerto Rico, as well as at various locations throughout the
United States and were collected on September 15 and 16, to be
distributed to the children. As Ricky has said, "React. It's
time." |

children relief", please visit the
